How long will my DTG (Direct to Garment Printed) clothing last?

We use a high quality t-shirts which are 100% cotton and made with ring spun fibers. This is a specification for a high quality t-shirt and the basis for producing a lasting finish. Together with the OEM pre-treatment we apply to our products and the premium inks we use, our finished products are very much washing machine friendly and in most cases will outlast the shirt. It is good for over 30+ washes. We have even tested a garment which is now on its 46 wash cycle and it still look great. That’s a lot of washing.

To get the best results please read the garment care tag to protect the fabric and stitching.

Following the instruction below will help maintain a lasting print finish.

  • Turn the garment inside-out before washing and drying.

  • Machine-wash in cold water only.

  • Best to air-dry on a clothing rack.

  • Tumble dry low heat if machine drying is required.

  • Do not iron the graphic directly, place another garment on top and iron the surface.

What is pre-treatment?

Pre-treatment is applied on the surface of our garments prior to printing. This is an important step that allows the inks to bond to the fabric and provide a lasting finish and the sharpest looking printed apparel. We apply it only on the surfaces that requires printing. In some instances the fabric may feel a little stiff at first, however after a wash the garment returns to its original softer feel. Garments can still be worn right-away without washing and in most instances our customers don’t even know it's there. Only DTG printed apparel with a minimum if 80% cotton uses the pre-treatment process.

Is there a different process to looking after my heat transfer apparel?

The short answer is no. Getting the best out of any garments, including screen-printing, still requires the user to follow the care tag when washing to protect the fabric and stitching.

Follow the instructions below to protect the printed finish.

My artwork is ready, what is best digital format?

We prefer a high resolution 300 pixel .PNG file saved with a transparent background for DTG printing.

However .JPG files are also acceptable. We can also work with .eps, .ai and .psd files. Don't worry if you get stuck, contact us, we are here to help.
